quincy street street community special guest...

Since SojournCollegiateMinistry began in Boston we have been committed to connecting college and university students to opportunities that go beyond service projects to experiencing a kingdom lifestyle of Biblical justice and generosity.

This past weekend many of Quincy Street volunteers had a chance to have breakfast with Shane Claiborne and Chris Haw, two guys who have been living and writing about intentional community and justice for a number of years. Shane was a featured speaker as part of the Harvard Veritas Forum as well as the primary presenter at the Gratitude and Creation forum sponsored by the Boston Faith and Justice Network.

I can't say enough about our Community Development Coorindator, Nathan Griffith (2nd from the right) and the love, care, commitment and compassion with which his team continues to engage university students, graduates, and citywide volunteers into saturday morning youth group, mentoring, field trips and after-school tutoring with the youth in the Quincy Street neighborhood. In fact, all of the folks in the picture above are more amazing and inspiring to me than I can fully describe.

You can read more about an insider's experience at The Illumination Dilemma, the blog of volunteer and future SojournStaff, Steve Boutry (back middle).
